Welcome to Holy Hooker!  My name is Deborah, and I'm glad you found me and my work.  For now, this page will be mostly pictures of work I've done, to give an idea of what I love and what I can make.   I'll update and add details as my academic schedule permits.  PhD studenting is pretty demanding but, then again, so is the impulse to hook AllTheThings.  I could've sabotaged myself by waiting until I had time to get everything done "perfectly," but then nothing would ever go up on the web.  Better to do what I can, right?  There is only now, after all.

Commissions are always welcome; I love custom work.  Just drop me an email.   To see what I have on offer for sale, please visit my Etsy site.

Deborah is an ordained minister (not from the back of a comic book, either), holds an MDiv and is working on a PhD in theology, specializing in sexuality and spirituality/religion.  That's the "holy" part.  The "hooker" part is what Deborah avidly does when not reading, writing or teaching (crochet is French for "hook").  Deborah believes that the act of creation is sacred, and that expressions of beauty are holy, especially expressions of the human body--whether the image of a body(part) or in what can be worn on a body.  This philosophy informs all of Deborah's work, whether wearable art or painting with yarn in a tapestry.   And as hooker is also slang for a sex worker, those whose work I support from a platfrom of substantiated sex positivity, "Holy Hooker" seemed like the perfect name.

Enjoy!
